he former Tulsa guard already knows what he wants others to say when the three-day event for NBA prospects finishes on Sunday.
"I want everyone to say that I'm really efficient and can play with teams filled with good guys," Hurtt said.
Hurtt was one of 64 seniors invited to play in the eight-team tournament in the Virginia city.
Hurtt will be on an eight-man roster that has familiar faces, including SMU's Papa Dia and Kansas State's Jacob Pullen.
Hurtt has been building toward his future since Tulsa's season ended with a loss to UTEP in the Conference USA Tournament.

Alabama Football: Why the Tide Is Better in 2011 Than Last Season

mBarron_crop_340x234.jpg?1301191312

Sure it would be easy to wring your hands and bemoan the fact that the almost Mr. Perfect, Greg McElroy is gone along with Heisman-winning running back Mark Ingram, all-world receiver Julio Jones and first-round draft pick Marcel Dareus at defensive end have left the building.
There are lots of other players that are gone too that were part of that national championship season too.
So why is there is so much optimism this year coming from and about this year's Crimson Tide?
Maturity, depth, talent and experience. All these things are the answer to all the optimism.
Yes they

Penguins set NHL record by winning 4th consecutive shootout

20110327pdpenguins1_330.jpg

This is living dangerously, and the Penguins know it.
Frankly, it would be pretty tough not to.
Routinely having games stretch into overtime, let alone shootouts, is a high-risk way to operate, because defeat -- and perhaps a less attractive playoff spot -- is never more than one unfortunate bounce away.
That is how it is supposed to be, anyway, although it has been a while since any of that has gotten past the theoretical stage for the Penguins.
Their 2-1 decision against Florida Sunday at Consol Energy Center was their fourth consecutive shootout victory, an NHL record, and it

The Lakers look hungry ? and that could be bad news for rivals

Lamar Odom presumably got his pancakes. Maybe Phil Jackson finally got some sleep.
The Lakers were told to stay home Wednesday, a much-deserved rest after their first triple-overtime game in Los Angeles since 1969.
Even though the Phoenix Suns came in with a mediocre 35-33 record and managed to rip through a 21-point deficit, the Lakers were dramatic, even convincing, with their win-at-all-costs mindset without Andrew Bynum.
Lakers 139, Phoenix 137, triple overtime.
"My takeaway from all of that is the rest of the NBA needs to get ready," TNT analyst Chris Webber said. "We always talk about Kobe [Bryant]

Cunha Comes Up Big For Redmen

Tewksbury high goaltender Niko Cunha will be the first one to tell you that Franklin High's first-period goal in Sunday's state championship game was not his finest moment.
"It's a goalie's worst nightmare," Cunha said after he lost track of a Franklin shot, turned the wrong way looking for the rebound, and left the net wide open for the Panther's James Marchand to effortlessly give his team a 1-0 first period lead.
"Nobody wants to deal with that, especially in this kind of a game," Cunha admitted.
Worse, the goal came with just two seconds left in a scoreless first

Rose could be record-setting MVP

He hears the chants late in home games when he's at the free throw line. Players and coaches around the league, including Chris Bosh, Juwan Howard and Doc Rivers have been converted into believers. And of course there was that endorsement by Michael Jordan.
Derrick Rose seems to be leading the way in the debate for NBA MVP. And if the groundswell of support continues over the final 16 games of the regular season, he will be the youngest player ever to win the NBA MVP award.
Rose, 22, would pass Wes Unseld as the youngest player to win the

Women's basketball: UNI hopes to sweep past Valley Cinderella bids

The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team doesn’t have to be reminded about the history of upsets in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
The Panthers need to think back to just a year ago, when they won as the fifth seed and earned their first berth in the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers aren’t underdogs in this year’s tournament, which starts today in St. Charles, Mo. They are 24-5 and riding a 16-game winning streak. They won the Valley regular season title with a 17-1 record.
But the Panthers say they won’t take anything for granted.
“I think we’re living proof that
